Faces of the internet

In ancient Roman mythology, Janus is known as the God of beginnings and transitions. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past and thereby of gates, doors, passages, endings and time he is known as the gateway God. In today’s world the ‘Internet’ is an embodiment of Janus.  It looks towards the future but never forgets the past, it opens doorway to trade and associations Like Janus that caterers to journeys and exchange, While the fundamental nature of Janus is debated,  so does the internet in all its aspects, of good and evil.

Honestly the world wide web is a social evil we need to have, we can interact with the world at large, all at the disposal of our finger tips, on the conversely we could collapse more and more within ourselves, into a recluse or a hermit. With this shield or clock of invisibility we have the ability of honing our of  benefactor v/s criminalist character image. We could use it to propagate good deeds, and happiness, warmth to all we come in contact with, or we could use it to perpetrate ominous acts on our neighbors, cities, and nations at large. The Internet is the once lovingly invited house guest, we cannot seem to let go off, only cause it knows a little too much.

Thought the famous and docile face of internet is the social portal but there is a different face as well a darker sinister side of the internet and cyber crime. Nations now arming themselves against these crimes to safe guard all their citizens. And National Cyber Security Programme at the beautiful Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi. Financial services firms need to be aware of the threat hackers and cybercriminals pose to their IT systems and the data and intellectual property stored on them. Cybercriminals are becoming increasing sophisticated and innovating at an alarming pace. The event was solely to educate its council of the progressive nature of such entities lurking in the darker recesses of the internet.

The conference was on such a large scale with more than 300 attendees  that hold serious thoughts to standards to protection of the distinctiveness of the company and their employees at large. Data protect and safeguard the integrity of computer and communications systems, networks and database, and the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information and data stored therein.

An iconic mix of individuals, representing government and corporate holding hands to brace themselves and protect all that falls within their care. I was happy to be part of this one event and satisfactorily basked in the knowledge that even we were protected behind this strong warrior fore front.

Appreciation extended to the team who assisted on this event Nigel, Jake, Emmerson. and the operations team. Thank you for making me proud.

Cooking Diaries

I'ts refreshing to see something out of the box... or in this case should I say larder!

It was quite an ingenuous plan to  boost  team morale and celebrate each others achievements, what better way than a day learning new skills and a few techniques in the kitchen while having fun at the same time. a unique event for corporate's to learn the perfect metaphor for teamwork and results, where the meal itself becomes the symbol for teams successful integration of ideas and talents.

throughout  this sessions participants discovered that the only way to achieve their objectives was to work as a cohesive team, utilizing effective communication and  planning

Culinary school in Dubai was adventurous to bring out creativity by enticing a corporate group to venture into their kitchens.

I have to thank my team Archie and Jake who teamed up together to brave what started as Hell's Kitchen fiasco, and progressed to a Master Chef finale. Bringing out and elaborate dish called Teamwork, garnished with Integration of Ideas, served with a cool drink of Talent. Only to finish the day with a dessert based on Laughter topped with Enjoyment.

I have to thank Operations for putting the team and kit together effortlessly and Jake and Archie for aiding the client who was all praises of the team for flawlessly transiting from one event to the other.

To Operations, logistics, Warehouse and crew,  Thank You for making me proud.

Almost a Norm

There are always chances that we are called upon to propagate a stylized model that enthuses a sense of security comfort and an assurance of control to a safe group of individuals. Even though many may choose a rather safe decorous techniques over flamboyancy, this method is far from exuding staid impression. Each event is personalized and its uniqueness is heightened by the very essence of its concept, and the Invited Speakers glamorizes the sets with their insight, their talking points and discussions, bringing life and vibrancy to any event.

The very recent event event was to assure client safety is a foolproof walk to success, assisted them with insights on event technicalities to showcase their event aptitude and aim for success.

Thanking my crew and team who worked on this event, it was a methodical setup that they are so comfortable with and I could depend on them to pull this through without a hassle.

Thank you Operations/ Logistics / Crew for making me proud.

Unleashing Potential

The best way to hope for a better tomorrow.... is to look so far into the past, and pave a way constructively to the very present we live in.

Empowering the next generation of UAE Leaders today, by finding innovative to entice the young minds to probe their potential future, is definitely a good place to begin.  The recent career fair exhibition aimed at just that curating young minds in fields of interest be it literature, Science, Arts or Politics.

Exhibition catered to a special series of motivational speeches designed to energize and empower and educate young minds. an intriguing competition called Think Science aimed at engaging teams of talented youth from all Emirates,  The Competition was design, to develop, and build science based innovations, and to apply science skills in solving practical problems.

Watching young minds showcase interest in the fields of academic over social media or in electronic media that involves human interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback (i.e) 'video games!' To see literal interest in this exhibition was most certainly invigorating and refreshing.

taking equal interest in this exhibition along with me were the three appointed personal to bask in this furrow of information and innovation.

A big Thank you to all the 3 team members assigned to this show, Nigel who piloted the two projects with Archie and Romario who came in close and took over baton from Nigel they took it upon themselves to run the show  for the rest of the exhibition. I Thank my team for their support on this exhibition.

Roll with the punches...

Rolling & Pitching weathering rough seas... and, we were still docked!!!

Opening Ceremony of Terminal 2 at the Jabel Ali Ports was nothing short of production, performance and  excitement! of a full scale event.

Under the guidance of Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah the opening of Terminal 2 was orchestrated. In 2008 Mr. Bin Thaniah  received the 'Outstanding Achievement  Award' from the International Cargo Handling & Coordination Association (ICHCA) for his contribution to the field of Maritime Cargo.

Like the man himself, the Terminal aims to achieve a lot more in the future, built to house the likes of Customs, Dubai Municipality, and the Ministry of Environment all in one location. The facility is expected to inspect 300 - 400 containers in a day almost double from what the port currently handles.

Among the honoured dignitaries most of whom belonged to the board of Director of DP World, was Director General of Dubai Municipality Mr. Hussain Nasser Lootha part taking in this enormous occasion.

A Big Thank you to Operations and Warehouse for a quick turn around of events for prioritizing this last minute, though small, yet a very high profile request. Sherin for managing to organize crew out of thin air at the very last minute, Savio and Darryl (my Romulus & Remus) for prepping kit and gear instantaneously    without    dissent.

Last, but most certainly not the least, the infamous MiB, who did not let language stand as a barrier between speech and presentation, it almost seemed that they took a crash course in the language of the land, overnight! Which allowed them to seamlessly oscillate between presentations and the presenters. Allan and Dulup worked fast and furious to setup stage and AV even incorporated rehearsals within the 4 hours of setup! kudos to you guys.

All I can say is 'ALMOE' is... cause YOU make it happen! Thank you for making me Proud!

Massachusetts Institute of Technology...

Office of the President....

Rafael Reif Honorary guest of the event serves as the 17th President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since July 2012.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Reif outlined the threats and opportunities presented by the sudden rise of credible, low-cost online learning alternatives and challenged MIT to use the campus as a lab to explore the future of higher education.
Dr. Reif strove to celebrate and strengthen MIT as a community united in mission, values and caring, from his appointment of MIT’s first Institute Community and Equity Officer to his leadership in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing.

A member of the MIT faculty since 1980, Dr. Reif has served as director of MIT’s Microsystems Technology Laboratories, as associate department head for Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), and as EECS department head.
It was all inspiring to hear from  a personnel of such stature on how we can make a difference; and indeed everybody can!... In their very own way, my crew at the event worked in complete harmony of skilled craftsmen, starting in various segments, like that of a jigsaw puzzle and coming to a completion of a fantastic image almost seamless as a whole
in our own way further glamorizing the the welcome of a man of such stature, I truly thank Christopher who manged the project, looking after install and operate with his crew of merry men, Adil, Cossy, Lal, Micheal, & Shafaqat, who aided in the technicalities of this event, with zest and fervor for success.
I appreciate Dion's help and assistance mediating, on all grounds specially between the artwork and technicalities for the event. It cannot go unmentioned assistance from behind the scenes operations crew Darryl & Savio the unsung heroes for most if not all of my jobs, I have to mention "Charlie's little angels!!!" Sherin, Charlotte and Nikita for carrying out; difficult behind the scene task, with perfections and with a smile on their face.

Thank you  Ladies and Gentlemen for making me proud!

Presidents are Marching

A rather intimate gathering of the employees of a Conglomerate for a day of discussion and interaction with President and an interesting  Session with the CEO as well an industry that takes its Training and Development very seriously and hold a very special place for people development within its sphere.

We helped bringing this dynamism to the forefront by creating a setup within their premise, that was  worthy of a conference on a larger level. there by inculcating participation from both the audience and the presenter. the company holds a very dynamic mission statement and employee relation, its quite mesmerizing  and wanted to reiterate the same.
An Excerpt from the Mission Statement

Training and Management Development

At Nestlé, we strongly believe that it is our people who form the strength of the Company and that nothing can be achieved without their commitment and their energy.
People are indeed our most important asset and we invest heavily on their training and development. An Excerpt from the note of the CEO of Nestle Dubai.
NNote from the CEO

Today, as the number one Nutrition, Health and Wellness company in the world, we continue to draw our strength from these guiding principles, providing consumers with world-class brands, products and services.
Chairman and CEO -Nestlé Middle East
It was a Intimate setup for a whooping crowd of 500 team members that took part in a discussion, of the future and growth of the company at large, an interactive session and the no-bars held, discussion showcased the transparency of the company. It also induced morale among'st its team members. it was quite a genuine portrayal of integrity and candor a quality so rare in today's economy.

A Big Thank You to the Team who made this happen. Christopher, Sonny, Archie, Romario, Joel (t), Joel (s), Richard & Gerard and Team, for doing a phenomenal job twice in the same week! Special gratitude to Warehouse and operations for an immaculate prep of kit and gear in this busy time.

The Kings of Bank Street.

Premier annual financial markets conference in the Middle East region.
Guest of honuour H.E -Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan.

Global Financial Markets Forum 2014 held on the 4th-5th March had Lawrence H Summers, Former undersecretary for international affairs, Jean-Claude Trichet Economic Consultant and Bob Diamond Former group chief executive of the British Bank, Barclays Plc.  as eminent presenters for the Forum, the event provided delegates with the opportunity  to attend presentations from prominent corporate and financial entities in the West-East Corridor.

This is certainly one of my most complex show of this season, it proved to be a learning curve every step of the way this was my, on the job introduction to Anycast / Onsite Editing Suite / Converting Converging Digital Content / Live streaming, alongside the usual suspects Pandoras box, you name it we had it. If I could juggle one more element of technology into this event I think my control station was quite capable of broadcasting a sequence of man on the moon.

Conference held at the Emirates Palace Auditorium, was a playground for creativity, a large format screen 15mt x 4mt that spanned the length of the entire stage floated majestically 2mt high from the ground. the wide screen catered to a play area for pandoras box that mesmerized and captivated its audience. Audio was handled beautifully from front of house and Stage front to mick up speakers all on cue.

Being a prestigious event those would were not physically present at the venue and for those around the world would not miss much since the conference was streamed live in real time in the foyer and the live edited presentations were incorporated within its framework with the help of Anycast and HD content was digltalized down to an FLV format that was linked on the website for the world at large to view presentations, watch speakers, the world shrunk to witness a virtual conference right there on their desktop.

This event was proof that our new Digital Content Division was all geared and up in arms to take on previously incomprehensible events with ease of a seasoned veteran. To see technology grow exponentially in such a short time was both overwhelming & humbling at the same time. With Tom as the technical manager on this event curated a continuous learning platform every step of the way, where explanation was the catalyst for information I am in complete awe of the information gained and of my team who made this happen.

I am honoured to share the stage with the entire team that helped make this happen to name a few, Event technical planing Tom Walter / Content and Editing Anne, Efe / Vision and Pandora team Rainer, Renante n Micheal /Audio Team Joel, Edwin, Prince / Lights Dan, Terrance / Staging Richard, Lal, Silva, Ameen & Team / Camera Ivor & Team / Exhibition & Registration Christopher, Naveed, Iftikhar, Ajit.

Cheers to… CREW / Operations / Administration / Warehouse & Logistics
THANK YOU for making me proud.
